Client Experience Tech Tip: How to Keep Potential Clients ON Your Website

Updated June 2023

The client experience is so much more than cards and gifts. (LuAnn Nigara and I talked about this here when I was first on her podcast). Your client experience starts the second someone lands on your website. They are experiencing your company and what it's like to work with you, whether you are there with them or not.

So how do you make sure they start off on the right foot?

Make sure your website isn't turning people off or sending people away.

Two Tips to KEEP PEOPLE ON YOUR WEBSITE

The client experience is so much more than cards and gifts. Your client experience starts the second someone lands on your website. They are experiencing your company and what it's like to work with you. So make sure they start off on the right foot.

01 | Remove social links from your main navigation bar

Why in the world are you sending people OFF your site when you want them to stay ON your site and submit an inquiry, schedule a call, or buy a product?

Sigh.

Move those social links to your footer.

Stop making pages , email addresses, and contact forms open in new pages

Pages that open in new browser windows, email addresses that when clicked open up a new mail program, and project inquiry forms hidden in pop-up light boxes…..

Why? Why the extra steps?

It should feel seamless with everything happening right within the page they are on.

ANY friction or delay and people who are new to you could bounce because their online experience is so clunky.

Here's how to fix this in Squarespace.

While we’re not web designers, we are client experience designers (may or may not be a real thing) and we review our clients’ websites as part of our 1:1 services because a website is part of the client experience. We want to ensure everything is cohesive and elevated from the minute they find you online.
